Transformations, an online magazine that features narrative essays and other content, is published by the Narrative Storytelling Initiative at Arizona State University and is a publishing channel of the Los Angeles Review of Books. This media project is dedicated to featuring personal stories of transformative experiences, drawing on writers from the world of academia and beyond.
We are inspired by the value of chronicling and sharing how transformative experiences can influence the trajectory of one’s life. The resulting narrative essays are intended to provide insights into the challenges we face and how those challenges help define who we are. Our published essays can be teachable moments, but they also offer readers a compelling story–and, more simply, a darn good read. In our view at Transformations, the better we understand each other, the more we encourage each other’s humanity, the more likely we are to expand our capacity for cooperation and engagement.
While we are open to subjects from any realm, we periodically will take a deeper dive into and seek submissions on specific topics.
